“I have been fairly good with my health and fitness, but I would like to feel more confident, have more energy and look great in my favourite clothes.“
You are self motivated and you don't need your hand held, but your current routine is a bit flat and there’s not much to show for all your hard work.
You exercise regularly but can’t seem to hit your weight or fitness goals. Your nutrition is not great but you are looking for guidance so you know what to eat and what not to eat to give you the energy you need.
“I've spent a lot of time and money on various diets, gym memberships etc and nothing has worked for me. I just need to be told what to do to feel fantastic and have the energy to enjoy doing the things I love"
Your life is busy with little or no time for yourself. You feel tired and stressed all the time. Finding time to relax seems like a distant dream.
You are not sure how to eat healthily on the go, you are busy and you to grab quickest snack available because you don't have the right advice.
“I'm desperate and know I need to make some big changes to my lifestyle, I am fed up with not feeling good and I am unhappy with my body. I need one to one help, something that fits my specific needs “
You are a business owner or a professional. Due to daily commitments you're strung out, stressed and have no idea of where to begin to get the energy you need.
You have reached a crisis point in your life, having realised you are overweight, over stressed, in pain, and not eating in a healthy way. You no longer feel good in your own body.
The short answer is “certainly not!”
Exercise is for everyone although it should of course be tailored to individual abilities and fitness levels.
The oldest client in my personal training business to date was 67 years old and he was fitter than many people less than half his age. The interesting thing about this man was that he couldn’t understand why his friends and peers were “content to spend their lives sitting in front of the television and waiting to die” (his words), and his friends thought he was mad for going to the gym every day to lift weights, keep his joints moving and keep his weight down. Fitness is not all about being thin or having bulging muscles. It is more about the ability of the body to have energy to perform with vitality and alertness, whilst helping to prevent some long term diseases. There are various aspects to physical fitness including muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio respiratory endurance and flexibility, which along with mental fitness can make a huge difference to your quality of life now and in the future. Exercise is good for your wellbeing. It can help you to release stress, improve your sleep, give you a reason to take time out of the day for yourself and enhance your state of mind and mood more efficiently than a bar of chocolate or a glass of wine.
It can be difficult to feel motivated to exercise if you are stressed, anxious and when life (work, home, relationships, etc) all seem too difficult. It is not easy to justify taking time out of the day to take a few minutes or more to yourself. Knowing that you are doing something to reduce your stress, increase your ability to handle more “stuff” and look after your longer term health (enabling you to be there for loved ones) can often give you the “permission” you need. Tiredness, mental fatigue and feelings of general exhaustion can result from a number of factors, however making lifestyle changes to improve sleep patterns, manage stress and increase exercise are of limited value without the correct nutritional input.
Many people rely on regular doses of stimulants such as coffee and tea to get them through the day, however an energy spike from a cup of coffee or tea soon wears off and can leave you feeling worse than before. Read More→
Everyone is familiar with a lack of energy -whether its due to a stressful job or work commitments, that exhausted day (or night) when no matter how enticing that new opportunity is, it’s hard to find the energy to get up and go. Read More→
In the long term bad posture can lead to bad back pain and nobody really want’s that! More days are lost through back pain than anything else. But the problem is people are sitting down far more than they need to, far more than the human body is designed to sit down and people don’t necessarily have their work stations set up in the correct way. Tanya was really motivating and encouraging and this in turn made me push myself. I found it really exciting to think that I was on the way to looking and feeling better and so I found the sessions really enjoyable even though I was working hard. Tanya was very friendly and personable which also made the sessions enjoyable as we chatted through the warm up and circuit!I feel so much more in control of everything because of taking control of my eating and exercising.
“Beware, beneath the friendly exterior Tanya makes you work tremendously hard! She listens to what you want to get out of exercise and tailors the workouts accordingly. Personally speaking after years of neglect she has got my joints moving and improved my posture. As the adage goes the more effort you put in the more benefits you will get out.”
She’s been supportive and encouraging no matter what; has saved me money on gym gear, encouraged me to see the doctor or physio when necessary, and even dragged me outside for a run when I was clearly clinging unhealthily to the treadmill.
Tanya came with me for my first ever 5k event, and I amazed myself by running all the way to finish in 35 minutes. It’s something I thought I would never do and not bad for a 40-something asthmatic who hates the gym!”
