Everyone is familiar with a lack of energy -whether its due to a stressful job or work commitments, that exhausted day (or night) when no matter how enticing that new opportunity is, it’s hard to find the energy to get up and go.
The body likes regularity and ideally you should go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, obviously in real life this may be difficult. But going to bed in the early hours and waking up in the early morning robs you of energy, and the body doesn’t like that.
There’s a lot of advice out there about getting good sleep – it’s very important! We quickly adjust to being sleep-deprived, and don’t notice that we aren’t functioning at a normal level, but lack of sleep really affects us. If you’re feeling drained or listless, try going to sleep thirty minutes earlier for a week. It can really help.
Rehydrate during the day.
Have a think about how much water you are actually consuming each day. If you think that it might not be enough, simply try increasing your daily intake and see if it makes a difference.
Keeping your body well hydrated will actually give you the focus and energy to see you through those tight deadlines, busy schedules and sometimes boring moments.
The best way to remain fully hydrated is to drink water regularly during the day, whether you are thirsty or not. All it takes is a little planning!
Meal timing is another important factor in regard to energy levels. People often skip meals, and wonder why they are tired in the afternoon. Skipping meals can cause blood sugar swings, often resulting in fatigue. You should eat at least three meals each day, although 4-6 small meals spread three to four hours apart can also help you fight fatigue.
Find something you really enjoyed doing, even if its just going out and getting yourself some fresh air just do it! It’s about making sure you take some time whenever you can to just enjoy yourself! Whether it’s 5 or 10 minutes during the week or 15 minutes during the day to just relax, unwind, listen to music or read a book. Find something you enjoy that can help switch off even if its for a few minutes in the day!
